Joy is drawn to the Eastern approaches to health, particularly Traditional Asian Medicine with its revered 3,000 year old history. Joy is a licensed acupuncturist and herbalist as a graduate of Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine College, Berkeley, California.

Joy is an adult nurse practitioner and registered nurse and specializes in integrative therapies. She graduated from Columbia University School of Nursing in New York with a specialty in Herbs, Nutraceuticals & Supplements as well as a specialty in Palliative and End-of-Life care.

She also completed a post-graduate fellowship in Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City, NY.

Joy has an advanced certification of Chinese medical theory and tui na (meridian massage) at the Acupressure Institute in Berkeley. She has also completed the Five Element Acupressure teacher training at the Body Therapy Center in Palo Alto, CA.

She is also trained in Jin Shin Jyutsu, the ancient art of harmonizing the life force in the body and is a Self-Help Instructor.

Joy has traveled to China where she learned qi cultivation exercises, the Shaolin style of tui na and medical theory. She takes a special interest in traditional Classical Taoist healing, utilizing the relationships incorporated in the Ba Gua. It is based on eight trigrams from the I-Ching, a classic text from China.

With a degree in Biology and Human Health, she originally was trained as a massage therapist.
She has been serving in the health community for over 20 years.
